Democratizing Access to Business Growth in Canada

The Nod Foundation democratizes access to the systems, capital pathways, and business infrastructure Black-led businesses need to become market-ready and economically competitive.

Building Pathways for Black Businesses to Scale

Creating access to the systems, capital, and infrastructure Black-led businesses need to start, grow and scale within Canada’s economy.

Formalizing 100 black owned businesses and supporting 1000 businesses by 2030.

The Nod Foundation is Canada's first, AI-enabled, outcome-based accelerator for Black businesses.
We democratize access to the systems, pathways, and capital that prepare Black-led businesses to start, formalize, and scale within Canada’s economy.
The Foundation delivers measurable business outcomes through pathways designed to move businesses from readiness to economic participation.

Watch Our Video

The Nod Foundation was built on a simple but urgent truth: the systems that determine who succeeds in Canada’s economy were never designed with Black businesses in mind.

Not the capital systems. Not the formalization pathways. Not the data infrastructure. And certainly not the technology platforms. Black entrepreneurs were expected to navigate a maze built by others, with no map, no guide, and no guarantee that the finish line applied to them.

The Nod Foundation transforms ambition into access through research, data, and frameworks that prepare Black entrepreneurs for sustainable growth. This is not charity, it’s the engineering of a stronger economy through data, collaboration, and design. Leveraging The Nod Inc. infrastructure, we use shared systems and real-time insights to track how readiness drives growth, ensuring lasting opportunities and measurable impact.

We Build for Those Ready to Build.

The Nod Foundation serves four distinct groups, each with a specific role in strengthening Black economic participation in Canada. Find where you fit.

For Entrepreneurs

You’ve built something real. Now it’s time to formalize it, fund it, and scale it. The Access Lab gives Black-led businesses structured pathways to move from potential to economic participation with the systems, capital access, and digital infrastructure to compete.

For Partners

Economic inclusion requires institutional will. Whether you’re a corporation, government body, or community organization, the Foundation offers structured pathways to contribute meaningfully to Black business infrastructure in Canada.

For Funders

Your capital can do more than it’s doing. The Nod Foundation connects funders to a pipeline of formalized, investment-ready Black-led businesses with the data and accountability frameworks to show exactly where your investment goes and what it produces.

For Researchers & Policy Makers

Canada’s data on Black-owned businesses is incomplete. The Nod Foundation’s Research & Insights centre provides the real-time economic data, formalization metrics, and predictive insights that policy decisions should be built on.

Guiding Pillar

Our Approach

Our work is guided by a three-pillar model that transforms research into action and readiness into measurable results. Each pillar is part of a living framework that connects data, design, and accountability to build lasting economic infrastructure.

01

Data & Research

We build credible, evidence-based insights that inform policy, investment, and community action. Through national studies, real time data from The Nod App, economic impact reports, and academic partnerships, we generate data that shapes programs, strengthens infrastructure, and advances inclusive growth.

02

Democratizing Access

We design tools and frameworks that simplify how entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses. From legal and regulatory readiness to funding navigation and digital adoption, our programs remove complexity and create clear, guided pathways for Black entrepreneurs to formalize, scale, and succeed.

03

Accountability

We embed accountability into everything we intentionally and thoughtfully build. The Community Economic Council carefully provides consistent oversight and ensures that every program, partnership, and outcome genuinely reflects transparency, measurable impact, and strong community alignment.

Together, these pillars create an ecosystem designed for scale, turning intention into implementation and builds an economy where readiness leads to recirculation.

Access Lab

Unlock your potential, formalise your business, and scale sustainably. Our outcome-focused model connects entrepreneurs to the right resources, mentors, and partners for measurable growth. The Nod Foundation strengthens the ecosystem by linking entrepreneurs with experts and firms that drive real impact. Each tailored Pathway removes barriers to growth, turning ambition into lasting results.
